PRADAN
Empowering Rural India:
A Case Study of PRADAN
Application Development
by PiTangent
PRADAN (Professional Assistance for Development Action) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to helping India's rural poor across seven of the country's poorest states. Their mission is to empower disadvantaged communities, enabling them to emerge from poverty and lead lives of dignity. PiTangent, a technology company, embraced PRADAN's vision of making a positive impact on society by taking on the challenge of developing a custom application to aid PRADAN professionals in their efforts.
The project commenced with several notable challenges and obstacles:
Limited Access to Technology: Many rural areas where PRADAN operates have limited access to technology and the internet, making it challenging to implement a digital solution.
Data Tracking: Tracking livestock, medical supplies, food supplies, the annual count of births, and sales and consumption in remote villages posed difficulties due to the absence of structured data collection systems.
Complexity of Rural Development: Rural development is a multifaceted task that involves addressing various aspects, such as poverty alleviation, hunger eradication, and the sustainable management of natural resources. Creating a unified solution that could address these diverse challenges was a considerable challenge.
To overcome the initial challenges, PiTangent and PRADAN collaborated to create a comprehensive application that addressed the unique needs of rural development:
The application was designed to work offline, allowing PRADAN professionals to collect and store data even in areas with limited connectivity. Data synchronization would occur when a stable internet connection was available.
The app featured an intuitive and user-friendly interface to ensure that even those with limited technology exposure could use it effectively.
The application included features for tracking livestock, medical supplies, food supplies, the annual count of births, and sales and consumption. It also allowed for the analysis of this data, enabling PRADAN professionals to make informed decisions.
The project integrated the use of hashtags like #zeroHunger, #noPoverty, and #ManagingNaturalResources to align with PRADAN's core mission and goals. This integration helped create awareness and engagement in rural communities and beyond.
The collaboration between PiTangent and PRADAN yielded a powerful, user-friendly application that had a significant impact on rural development. The project provided the following outcomes:
Improved Data Collection: PRADAN professionals were able to collect and manage essential data more efficiently, leading to better-informed decisions.
Increased Awareness: The incorporation of hashtags helped raise awareness and support for PRADAN's mission, both within rural communities and the wider public.
Empowering Rural India: The application empowered PRADAN professionals to work effectively in addressing the issues of poverty, hunger, and natural resource management, ultimately contributing to a better quality of life for rural populations.
In summary, the collaboration between PiTangent and PRADAN resulted in a technologically advanced solution that enhanced the organization's ability to make a meaningful impact on rural development in India. This project serves as a prime example of how technology can be leveraged to address complex social challenges and drive positive change in disadvantaged communities.

"From the very first call they were the only agency that has shown real interest and trying to understand the reason behind why I ask for what I ask for. They were customer oriented all the time and delivered on demand, while proposing improvements wherever possible. Very great cooperation! They have prepared my SaaS documents they will most likely be the partner to develop it in the end!"

"The quality of work was great, but they went way past schedule (could be due to Corona, who knows). I will be working with them again, though. I would recommend them for any project."
